Bundle generation for last-mile delivery with occasional drivers

چکیده
In this paper, we present the vehicle routing problem (VRP) with occasional drivers (OD) and order bundles (OB). The VRP-OD-OB is an extension of VRP-OD, where instead assigning one customer per driver, are assigned customers. To deal bundle-to-driver assignment, a bidding system exploited, in which company offers set raise their bids. These bids depend on features such as drivers’ destination, flexibility deviating from shortest path, willingness to offer service. generate valuable customers, propose two strategies: (i) innovative approach based creation corridors, (ii) traditional clustering. Through experimental study, carried out randomly generated instances real road network, show that corridor-based strongly outperforms clustering-based approach. Given corresponding bids, provide mathematical formulation valid inequalities solve VRP-OD-OB. address larger instances, design efficient large neighborhood search-based matheuristic. results extensive computational study method provides near-optimal solutions within very short run times. An analysis impact levels percentage customers ODs presented. Moreover, case dynamically appear at regular time intervals investigated. Also dynamic setting, considerable total cost reductions shown. derive several important managerial insights, include observation it not necessary high number achieve good quality solutions. Companies should rather focus generating fewer but more attractive bundles.

Stochastic last-mile delivery problems with time constraints
When a package is shipped, the customer often requires the delivery to be made within a particular time window or by a deadline. However, meeting such time requirements is difficult, and delivery companies may not always know ahead of time which customers will need a delivery. In this thesis, we present models and solution approaches for two stochastic last-mile delivery problems in which custo...
متن کاملTransshipment Networks for Last-Mile Delivery in Congested Urban Areas1
This paper introduces the concept of transshipment networks, a collection of strategically located transshipment platforms, for efficient and flexible last-mile delivery in congested urban areas. By implementing transshipment platforms, logistics operators can select the locations, light-freight vehicle types and operating schedules that best fit specific distribution strategies, and, simultane...
متن کاملMinimizing waiting time in last mile delivery for smart city
Customers consider a reliable and on-time last mile delivery in Omni-channel business as important as price and good’s quality. We focus on minimizing the waiting time for customers and carriers in last mile delivery. We model the problem as an optimization problem and develop Genetic Algorithm to solve it.
متن کاملIlluminating the Last Mile?
The next leap in the communications market may be the extension of optical technology to access networks. Advanced fibre optical access equipment has been developed in the last decade and today trial tests are on the way and insular deployment has begun. The access network, the last mile, has not encountered any major changes of technology for a century. However, current advancements in technol...
